What Happened To You Smell Soap After Shark Tank?

Megan Cummings presents her product, You Smell Soap, to the Shark Tank for episode 303.

When she was in college, she came up with the idea for You Smell Soap as a project for a class on creative packaging and presentation.

Cummings built her product from scratch into a high-end luxury item that she believes will sell well in the future, provided Sharks offer her funding and contacts.

Their business is struggling to stay afloat while working full-time jobs outside of the home.

Cummings currently works as a graphic designer, but she plans to leave to dedicate herself to the soap company full time.

Do you smell soap have the potential to attract the Sharks, or will it disintegrate in the Tank as many other products have in the past?

What Are You Smell Soap?

You Smell Soap is an organic soap brand manufactured with bright colors. It brings a breath of fresh air to an otherwise snobby sector.

You Smell soap is loaded with vitamin E and antioxidants and is available in scents such as Lemon Verbena and Lavender Mint. The company also produces paper wipes for freshening up on the go.

You Smell Soap is a luxurious product that does not take itself too seriously. You Smell Soap is made with natural components such as shea butter and olive oil, and it is aromatic while remaining mild and relaxing on the skin.

Who Is The Founder Of You Smell Soap?

Megan Cummins is the founder of You Smell Soap.

She claims that during a college exercise, she was inspired to come up with the idea of creating a unique product with an attractive label and package, which she then turned into a business.

Formerly a graphic designer, Megan moved her business full-time after deciding to devote all of her time and energy to it.

Moreover, her future husband showed his support by becoming fully involved in her business, which helped to increase the brand’s visibility.

She transformed the You Smell College product into a premium brand-led her to think that the outcome would have a huge market impact and generate significant profits for her company.

You Smell Soap Before Shark Tank

Megan Cummins studied at a university before appearing on Shark Tank, and she graduated with honors when she finished her education.

She had access to a range of equipment to design packages for any product she could think of as part of a college assignment. She completed the project with flying colors.

She came up with the idea of creating personalized packaging for premium soap bars, which she named You Smell Soap.

After receiving positive feedback for her bespoke luxury soap packaging, Megan Cummins was inspired to create solid soap bars.

She packaged the soap bars in her creative packaging and sent them out to test the market.

She made twelve hundred packages of luxury soap to complete the project, which she then distributed to more than a hundred merchants and retail outlets worldwide.

She claims to have done this to determine what people thought about her luxury soap and what price range she should set for the product.

You Smell Soap is not yet a legit business and has no sales, so Megan Cummins needs the investment of one of the Sharks to expand production and begin selling the soap bars to stores and other outlets.

How Was The Shark Tank Pitch Of You Smell Soap?

Megan Cummings appeared on Shark Tank seeking a $55,000 investment for a 20 percent stock stake in the You Smell Soap.

The entrepreneur offers samples of her first two scents, lemon and lavender mint, and explains that her company is still in the “pre-venture” stage, which means she doesn’t yet possess sales figures.

Cummings shipped 1,200 bars to retailers on a test basis for between $7 and $12 each as a market test.

Many retail retailers have expressed interest in placing an additional order, including Urban Outfitters.

Her brand seems to have a large market presence, assuming that her product meets the Shark requirements.

The company is launching a new product, dissolvable paper impregnated with soap, that will allow consumers to have a free sampling of the soap when they make an impulse purchase.

The innovative companion product will generate substantial profits in terms of sales, but it will also aid in the development of brand recognition. The Sharks have gotten their hooks in.

Daymond John says he “had to appreciate the tenacity,” but he doesn’t want to get into the industry because it’s not something he wants to do.

Kevin O’Leary admires Cummings and hopes she has great success, but he believes the risk is too great without orders. He’s no longer here.

Mark Cuban is interested in whether or not Cummings has the determination to see the project through to success.

She responds by stating that she is the “most tenacious” person she knows and will ensure that the product is a success. Cuban offers to purchase the company. $55,000 for a 20 percent ownership stake.

Barbara Corcoran comes up with a counter-offer before Cummings can answer.

She believes that Cummings is asking for far too little support and that she will need more in the future. Corcoran wants a 40 percent cut of every bar sold and a 10-cent royalty.

Robert Herjavec notices the blood in the water and immediately calls for help. He enters the fray with a third offer.

He will offer her $55,000 in return for 20 percent of the business and an additional $50,000 compensation in exchange for her time. Corcoran offers $55,000 for a 30 percent stake in the company.

Cummings ultimately decides to accept Herjavec’s offer.

What Happened To You Smell Soap After Shark Tank?

Megan received proposals from three separate Sharks: Barbara, Cuban, and Robert.

Robert Herjavec offered her $55,000 in exchange for a 20 percent ownership stake in her soap company, and she opted for that deal.

He also promised her an extra $50,000 to help her get her business up and running quickly.

She did not receive the money once the episode aired, however. She had attempted to call Robert numerous times after he had failed to respond to her messages, but she had been unsuccessful in her attempts.

Herjavec took advantage of a barrage of negative coverage in the media to address the issue.

She finally turned down the $50,000 for 50 percent of the company he offered instead of the $50,000 for 20 percent she’d been promised on the show since she did not want to share in the company’s profits.

Megan was not contacted immediately after the show since he had to complete the due diligence procedure first, and only then did he decide to alter his initial offer.

Megan managed to expand her company despite her failed transaction with an outside investor.

It wasn’t long before her fiancé started working full-time for the company. They continued to work on it. You Smell until an unknown sum was paid to the company in 2014. They were forced to close the company in 2016.

However, that’s not the end of her journey as an entrepreneur with the company. Since she sold her soap business in 2014, Sparklepop has been featured in several publications, including Oprah Magazine and Family Circle. She now lives in Los Angeles with her husband.

She closed her doors in 2019, and the business is no longer operational as of 2022.

Currently, she is concentrating her efforts on Downloads that Donate, an Etsy site that sells digital clipart files that may be used to design t-shirts and other items.

She also donates a portion of its sales to no-kill animal shelters throughout the United States.

Based on the latest information, she is still operating her contract design business that she has been running since 2007.

It is not known why Cummings did not receive the money, even though the deal was completed on air between You Smell Soap and Robert Herjavec.

Cummings rejected a second Herjavec offer for 50 percent ownership, so he made a third offer for 25 percent ownership.

The sour agreement sparked a flurry of negative coverage about Herjavec in the media and online.

Cummings responded by citing the due diligence process; however, the explanation seems flimsy when viewed because the company is still in the pre-venture phase.

She continued to expand her company despite the failure of the transaction. Cummings and her fiancé have decided to devote their time and energy to the You Smell company.

It was once possible to purchase the goods through the Amazon website; however, the website is no longer available.

Megan sold the company to an unnamed investor in 2014 for an undisclosed sum of money.

This led to the company going out of business in 2016. Megan founded a fashion jewelry firm called Sparklepop in 2014, which was a resounding success for the first few years.

She closed the business in 2019. Following graduation from college, she launched an Etsy shop called Downloads that Donate in 2017 that donates a portion of its profits to no-kill animal shelters.

Megan Cummings Designs, a contract design firm she owns and operates, was established in 2007 by her.

Are You Smell Soap Still In Business?

CNET reports that despite the positive publicity from Shark Tank, Cummins was unable to deliver on time due to conflicting schedules.

Cummins spoke with CNET; she showed the reporter her ring finger, which was bare since she had just gotten engaged.

“I wanted a ring, but we decided to invest the money my fiance had saved for it into the company instead.” “I was looking forward to being married,” says the bride.
