Who Is The Founder Of Original Man Candle?

Johnson Bailey is the founder of Original Man Candle.

He has revealed little about his professional or personal life since launching Original Man Candle, except to say he intends to continue his education.

Nathan Thornberry, a resident of Carmel, Indiana, saw the fart-scented candle on the show in May 2011. He contacted Mr. Bailey with interest in purchasing one.

One day, he received the idea while waiting for his friends to arrive for a game at his house.

He fumbled around in his man-cave, searching for a candle to dispel the foul odor of sweat and rotting Chinese food that permeated the space.

Bailey believed that vanilla lavender was not sufficiently testosterone-inducing, so he created the Original Male Candle scents that only a guy could recognize and appreciate.

He produced the candles for a business class project even though he was still in college.

The smells of Bacon, Football, and even Fart make men stand out and stake their claim to their territories.

Original Man Candle Before Shark Tank

Johnson Bailey believed there was a market for musky perfumes that were not discovered by the general public at the same time as we worked to cure our houses of odors such as beer, pot roast, football, and even flatulence.

There are times when a business will implement a solution to an issue you were unaware of.

Johnson Bailey, an Oklahoma State University business student, understood that he wanted to start and grow a profitable firm from an early age.

He drew inspiration from his prior experiences, as do many entrepreneurs. Johnson was tidying up before his pals arrived to watch a football game at his house one day during his undergraduate studies.

He decided to seek a product to neutralize the foul smell while maintaining a “manly” appearance.

Bailey discovered vanilla, lavender, and other similar-smelling products that were not effective for his needs because they were scented with these scents.

It was clear to him immediately that there was an opportunity in the market, and he had an idea for a product that would fill this void and men would be eager to buy. He was right.

Johnson put his foot to the metal when it came to his concept and named it Original Man Candle.

He began by participating in the university’s entrepreneurship club, and with the help of the tools and mentors he was provided, he worked tirelessly to bring OMC to market.

Original Man Candles didn’t take long to become a national hit. He began selling them in all 50 states within a year.

Oklahoma State University recognized his achievements by awarding him the student entrepreneur of the year for 2014.

Original Man Candle got off to a fast start, but it would take a lot more growth before it could be considered a grand slam success.

After realizing he sorely needed investors to join the team, Bailey went to Shark Tank, searching for a strategic partner.

How Was The Shark Tank Pitch Of Original Man Candle?

Bailey appeared on Shark Tank seeking an investment of $50,000 in exchange for a 25 percent ownership stake in the Original Man Candle company.

Final Deal: No deal between Sharks and Original Man Candle.

What Happened To Original Man Candle After Shark Tank?

However, Original Man Candle’s trip did not go unnoticed, despite Johnson’s inability to close a transaction while in the tank.

There had been some good press coverage, and, most importantly, the company had attracted investors and entrepreneurs’ interest.

Nate Thorneberry invested in Original Man Candle because he believed in Johnson’s vision and suggested that Original Man Candle might have potential in the $2 billion/year candle market.

The OMC website states that Thornberry phoned Bailey after viewing him on the tank and was interested in investing.

Thornberry fulfilled his promise in May 2011 by contributing $65,000 in exchange for a 35 percent stake in Original Man Candle.

Soon after forming the partnership, Thornberry filed a breach of contract lawsuit against Johnson, which ended its existence.

Thornberry won a judgment for $71,000, but Johnson couldn’t collect because he filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Johnson no longer belongs to Original Man Candle, but his entrepreneurial endeavors and appearance on Shark Tank provided him with invaluable experience. Johnson’s knowledge supplemented the effort.

After finishing our internet media marketing training program, we moved on to other business ventures.

He eventually rose through the ranks at Stupid.com, a site whose target audience and product line were very similar to his original vision. He was promoted to marketing manager and then director of marketing.
